We have recently installed a wind turbine on one of our farms. This is a JACOBS 29/20 -- 20 kw peak. This installation was completed with partial funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs and the support of Commonwealth Edison.

This Wind Generator supplies part of the power for our hog finishing operation, grain drying and storage system and house at this location. We believe that with the grant support we will have a ten(10) year return on investment for this installation. While we feel this is an acceptable return, we believe that new turbines in this size range will be more efficient allowing installed prices of $1/kw without outside financial support to be achieved.
